It is one of the most famous excursions in the Sibillini Mountains due to its proximity to extraordinary places such as Lake Pilato, the Castelluccio di Norcia plateau and lastly its altitude of 2,476 m which makes Monte Vettore the highest peak of the Sibillini Mountains. . The departure is on foot from Forca di Presta, the pass that from the Tronto valley leads to the plateau of Castelluccio di Norcia. The ascent to Monte Vettore from this route (normal route) rises gently and at times becomes steeper.

The beauty of this itinerary is linked above all to the great panoramas that can be enjoyed, at the beginning almost exclusively to the south on the Gemelli and Monti della Laga mountains; then going up one gains the view also on the plain of Castelluccio, then on the valley of the Pilato lake, moving more and more north, with Monte Sibilla, Monte Priora, then the Cima del Redentore and Pizzo del Diavolo to the west. At the top the view is remarkable in all directions, also discovering the Umbrian-Marche Apennines and the Marche to the east with the Adriatic Sea on the horizon. From the top we can also enjoy the view of Lake Pilate. Lunch is packed on top of the Carrier.

The descent is on the same path as the outward journey.
